And The Results Are In!

It is now the evening of November 30th, 2023 and NaNoWriMo is coming to a close. It’s time for me to submit my results. I wrote (and edited) for almost 100 hours in November, on 20 out of 30 days. This work was largely, although not exclusively, focused on drafting new material for Sloan Script.

All of this produced…

(…drumroll please…)

The Good News

I exceeded my personal goal of 20,000 words by 75%. (This despite being interrupted by a bad flu, the holiday, personal travels, and other small crises.)

I completed How Can I Help. (And formally split it into two different books; How Can I Help and What Can I Say.) I made an excellent start on Tips, Tricks, Traps and Tools (currently at 9,000 words and itching to be edited) and Tough Talk (sitting at a comfortable 3,000 words). I definitely wrote more than I would have without the focus and drive provided by the external goal and accountability.

The Bad News

I did not, of course, complete the 50,000 words required to become an official NaNoWriMo “winner.” No special t-shirt for me. I am nonetheless satisfied with my progress.

The Great News

My sabbatical from my day job has been extended! I am going to continue to focus on writing (and editing) Hope In Darkness during December. Look for new books making their way to you soon!

I want to thank everyone who supported me this last month! My husband, step-daughter, and family helped me make time for writing and listened to me rave about my progress. Brian, especially, helped encourage me when I was feeling stuck or inadequate. I also appreciate those who supported me electronically, by ‘liking’ posts, by emailing me, and by purchasing books!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! May God bless you and your loved ones!
